BLOOMINGTON – Fans of pro hockey are eager to see the Bloomington Bison play if initial interest in season tickets is an indication.

In the first day since announcing that the team would be playing games next fall, the city announced that 418 season tickets had been secured. At the Bison website, fans could place a $50 deposit and secure priority access to season tickets.

Club CEO Sean Hallett said on Thursday that out of the deposits received, 82 expressed their preference would be for seats facing the glass that encloses the rink.

In March, those placing a deposit will have the first choice of seat location for games at the arena in downtown Bloomington.

The first 1,000 in line can get a full season for $699. After that, ticket prices depend on the seating tier.

The full price for seats nearest the rink is $1,299.

Ticket deposit orders were placed from the surrounding community, but also from Champaign, Peoria, and Springfield, as well.

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
