UPDATE: Two Prairie Central high school students identified in deadly ski-related accident

FAIRBURY – According to a newsletter to the school community, two Prairie Central High School students have died in a skiing-related accident.

A letter from Prairie Central Superintendant Paula Crane was released earlier this morning saying the accident happened Sunday in Colorado.

According to the Daily Leader in Pontiac, seniors Dylan Bazzell and Drew Fehr died in the accident.

Dylan Bazzell is a son of Darin and Lynette Bazzell of Fairbury. Drew Fehr is a son of Brian and Susan Fehr, also of Fairbury. Lynette Bazzell and Susan Fehr are both teachers in the Prairie Central school district, according to Crane.

The accident happened at Copper Mountain Ski Resort late Sunday evening.

The district and the First Baptist Church of Fairbury have partnered to provide counseling and a place for students to gather.

The school has canceled all extra-curricular activities for the day.
