NORMAL – A fire severely damaged a house in the Carriage Hills subdivision Sunday morning.

Just before 11:00 a.m., Normal fire departments were dispatched to the 800 block of Landau Lane.

The homeowner wasn’t home when a neighbor called to report significant smoke and flames coming from the back of the house.

Within an hour, firefighters had put out the most of the fire, but stayed on the scene to look for hot spots and help investigators.

According to a news release, the fire damage extended through the first floor ceiling and burned away a significant portion of the second story floor above the kitchen.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
