SPRINGFIELD – In anticipation of the winter storm set to hit Governor Pritzker has declared the entire state a disaster area.
This will activate the Emergency Management Agency and help facilitate response and recovery operations.
It will also facilitate the application for disaster relief funds from the Federal government.
“At IDOT, we spend the entire year preparing for snow and ice season and getting ready for major events like the one coming our way,” said transportation secretary Omer Osman. “We will have all of the available employees and equipment in our forces plowing and clearing roads, but we truly, truly need the public’s cooperation to keep everyone safe.”
The National Weather Service says the two days of snow could dump up to eightteen inches on the Bloomington area.
