MCHD reports another resident dies from COVID-19; officials report 63 new cases

BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Health Department reports another county resident has died from COVID-19, as officials report 62 new virus cases.

Health officials report the latest death incudes a male in his 30’s who was not associated with a long-term care facility. There have been 253 COVID-related deaths in the county.

Authorities also report hospitals are nearing capacity as 88% and 92% of total beds are in use, with 30 McLean county residents hospitalized with the virus.

“We have the capacity in the hospitals. We stand ready to serve the health needs of our community, but that doesn’t mean that that capacity that we do have could be depleted at any time, ” Tim Bassett, Vice President of Operations at Carl BroMenn Medical Hospitals, told WJBC’s, Scott Miller. “We are maintaining, our caregivers as you can imagine have been fatigued throughout the course of the pandemic, that doesn’t change our mission, and we stand ready to provide for the health needs.”

At this time, 471 people are isolated at home, while 20,926 have been released from isolation and recovered.

The county’s cumulative positivity rate increased to 4.6% from 4.5% on Monday. In addition, the rolling 7-day positivity rate remained steady at 3.1%.
