Bloomington-Normal hospitals nearing capacity; officials report 35 new cases of COVID-19

BLOOMINGTON – McLean County hospitals are nearing capacity, as health officials report 32 McLean County residents are hospitalized with COVID-19.

McLean County Health Department officials report four additional residents outside the county are hospitalized in twin city hospitals with COVID-19.

Officials also report 92% of ICU beds and 98% of total hospital beds are in use.

MCHD Public Affairs Coordinator Marianne Manko reports 35 more residents have tested positive for COVID-19, increasing the county’s probable and confirmed cases to 20,950.

There have been 249 COVID-related deaths in the county since the start of the pandemic.

Manko reports the county’s cumulative positivity rate remained steady at 4.7%, while the 7-day rolling positivity rate decreased to 3.7% from 4.1%.

Health officials say approximately 181,813 doses of the vaccine have been administered in McLean County, and 52.67% of the county’s population are fully vaccinated.
