NORMAL – Midwest Food Bank Bloomington-Normal is sending disaster relief to Louisiana and Mississippi for those impacted by Hurricane Ida.

Two semi loads of family food boxes have already been sent. The organization is preparing for more requests, according to Tara Ingham, executive director of Midwest Food Bank Bloomington-Normal.

“We are ready to support the families impacted by Hurricane Ida,” said Ingham. “We are thankful for the faithful support of volunteers and generous donors making our disaster relief efforts possible.”

Midwest Food Bank is also partnering with Somebody Cares to provide a semi-truck load of cleaning supplies to support clean-up efforts from the flooding and destruction caused by Hurricane Ida.

There will be volunteer opportunities for the Bloomington-Normal community as disaster relief boxes will be assembled this week, said Ingham.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
