MCHD reports 38 new cases of COVID-19; CDC reports county has “high community transmission”

BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Health Department asks residents to follow recent CDC guidance of masking as the county is experiencing “high community transmission.”

On Tuesday, Health officials reported 38 new cases of COVID-19, pushing the county’s confirmed cases to over 19,000.

Meanwhile, 229 people are isolated at home, while 18,539 have been released from isolation and recovered.

Authorities report 394,700 tests have resulted in a cumulative positivity rate of 4.8%. The rolling 7-day positivity rate is 3.5%, down from 4.0% on Wednesday.

Officials also report that 10 McLean County residents are hospitalized due to COVID-19, while seven other people outside the county are hospitalized in twin city hospitals.

On the vaccine front, approximately 172,024 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the county, and 49.22% of the county’s population is fully vaccinated.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) data, 51.29% of Illinois residents are fully vaccinated.
