Clinton Police charge Lincoln man with multiple counts of burglary

CLINTON – A Lincoln man remains behind bars in DeWitt County on multiple burglary charges after Clinton Police say he allegedly broke into storage units.

According to a news release, Clinton Police responded to ‘Storage Unlimited’ on Illinois Rt. 54 E. on June 4th to investigate 17 storage units forced open.

Authorities also reported at least eight units were burglarized during the early hours of June 4th.

On Tuesday, Clinton Police arrested Thomas Slayton, 28, of Lincoln for multiple counts of Burglary, possession of Burglary Tools, and Possession of Stolen Property.

Slayton was transported to the DeWitt County Jail pending an appearance in court.

“I’d like to commend our officers and Investigations Unit on their diligent work to resolve these cases in a swift and timely manner,” said Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers. “We want to send a message that theft and burglary in our community will not be tolerated, and we are dedicated to bringing those responsible to justice for their criminal actions.”

Clinton Police were assisted by Lincoln Police and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
