BLOOMINGTON – The fifth annual “Night In A Car” had over 300 participants locally and across the country – raising over $130,000 for Home Sweet Home Ministries in Bloomington.
The event was held last month at Trinity Lutheran Church, but things looked a little different due to COVID-19.
“This time, we were able to have people participate virtually,” said Todd Keller, Home Sweet Home Ministries’ Donor Relations Coordinator. “Some in the driveways of their own homes with others in different locations. In making that decision, we reached out to about five different states where we had participants who were a part of it. And that helped us get more teams than ever before, and I believe that got us to a higher goal.”
“Even in the midst of this pandemic, people from all over came together to support this wonderful event,” Keller added.
“Night In A Car” is a homelessness simulation with people living in their cars during the overnight hours. Next year’s event is scheduled for Feb. 4.
