BLOOMINGTON – McLean County is moving into Phase 1B of the COVID-19 vaccination plan starting next week, according to health department administrator Jessica McKnight.

Appointments will be available starting Jan. 18 for people in Phase 1A and 1B. More information about appointments and the vaccine can be found here.

“This includes health care workers, those 65 and older, and essential frontline workers,” said McKnight.

Frontline essential workers include first responders, persons working in education, food and agriculture, manufacturing, corrections workers, USPS workers, public transit workers, grocery store workers, and staff at shelters and day cares.

The doses of COVID-19 vaccine being received in McLean County is still very limited at this time, said McKnight. She is asking the community to remain patient saying, “This is a marathon, not a sprint.”

Around 6,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in McLean County.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
