BLOOMINGTON – Land of Lincoln Honor Flight has not had any trips this year due to COVID-19, but they are still looking for support to get veterans to Washington D.C.
The organization provides free round trip transportation from Springfield for veterans who wish to visit their memorials at the nation’s capital.
LLHF veteran coordinator Steve Wheeler says a donation is one way to honor those who sacrificed.

“It’s expensive to lease Boeing 737 aircrafts, it’s expensive to rent buses, it’s expensive to do what we do, but we have to do it,” Wheeler told WJBC’s Scott Miller. “It is our responsibility to get these guys out here to make their lives better and show them the respect and admiration, and a lot of the time for the first time let them feel that they were appreciated.”
Wheeler says they hope to have seven flights next year. You can make a donation here.
