Bloomington Housing Authority receives over $1 million in federal funding

BLOOMINGTON -The Bloomington Housing Authority has been awarded $1,401,725 in federal funding that will go towards the development, financing and modernization of public housing.

U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) announced more than $21 million in federal funding that will go to public housing authorities throughout central Illinois. The money comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Public Housing Capital Fund program.

“Children and families in need across Central Illinois rely on investments like these that help improve housing conditions and reduce homelessness,” Duckworth said.

“In addition, the local economy stands to benefit from this investment in infrastructure projects that will bring safety and modernization to the area’s public housing,” said Durbin.

Other housing authorities that will receive funding:

  • Peoria Housing Authority: $2,632,932
  • DeWitt County Housing Authority: $578,429
  • Livingston County Housing Authority: $562,985
  • Logan County Housing Authority: $357,486
  • Pekin Housing Authority: $306,103
  • Piatt County Housing Authority: $183,725
  • Ford County Housing Authority: $129,497
  • Woodford County Housing Authority: $92,500
