ISU men 7th, women 6th in preseason MVC polls

ST. LOUIS – Illinois State men’s basketball is picked to finish seventh in the preseason Missouri Valley Conference poll of coaches, media and sports information directors released Thursday. Missouri State is the preseason men’s favorite followed by Bradley.

Redbird senior guard Zach Copeland was named to the preseason All-Valley Third Team. The Redbird men host Truman State Wednesday for an exhibition and open the regular season November 6 at home against Belmont.

Illinois State has been picked to finish sixth in the preseason Missouri Valley Conference women’s basketball poll. Drake is picked to win a fourth straight title in the poll of coaches, sports information directors and media. Drake is picked to win a fourth straight league championship.

Illinois State guard TeTe Maggett was voted to the five-player preseason All-Valley team. The Redbirds host Lindenwood for an exhibition on October 30th before the regular-season opener at Redbird Arena against Truman State on November 5th.
