BLOOMINGTON – A ten-year-old child was hit by a vehicle on the corner of Evans and Empire Streets this afternoon and taken to a local hospital.

The child was riding on a scooter northbound and was struck by a vehicle while entering the intersection, according to police on the scene.

Almost immediately, the child was taken to a local hospital, and the nature and extent of the injuries suffered is unknown.

Police have the driver of the vehicle in custody, though it is still unknown if any charges will be brought up against him.
