URBANA – The man accused of killing a University of Illinois Chinese scholar will not go to trial later this month.
A week ago, the defense team for Brendt Christensen asked to delay the death penalty case. The federal court agreed this week, giving lawyers more time to prepare.
Prosecutors say Christensen intentionally killed Yingying Zhang last summer and destroyed her body.
