SPRINGFIELD – Back from another international trip, Gov. Bruce Rauner said that Illinois can learn from changes Israel has made.
Rauner said while he was there he worked on building relationships with businesses in the Middle East and sometimes needed to get investors to realize that there is more to the United States other than the east and west coast.
“Their primary initial interest was focusing on New York and California,” Rauner said. “Many of them weren’t as aware of Illinois so I spent a great deal of time meeting with them educating, them on the attractiveness of Illinois as a place to invest and access American markets.”
Rauner said he talked to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on how his nation worked to cut government spending and regulations, things Rauner said Illinois needs to do.
