SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – Illinois State Police said they seized almost $1 million worth of heroin during a weekend traffic stop in southern Illinois.
News partner WCIA-TV reports a gray Dodge Caravan was pulled over for speeding about eight o’clock Sunday morning on I-70, east of Vandalia.
State Police said a search of the vehicle turned up about six pounds of heroin worth $960,000.
Juan Contreras-Ibarra, 37, of Garden Grove, California was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and controlled substance trafficking.
