Republican State Representative Dan Brady (R-Bloomington) is not ready to endorse GOP Governor Bruce Rauner for reelection after Rauner signed into law an expansion of taxpayer-funded abortions.
Brady, who is pro-life, said he’s disappointed, but not surprised the pro-choice Governor signed the bill.
“Asking me, ‘Would I still support the governor?’ I’d have to know who’s running,” Brady told WJBC’s Sam Wood. “I think that’s a fair answer to your question, and that is that a lot of unknowns and I don’t know that I would be willing to say, not knowing who even potentially might be opposing that I’m going to say whether I’m for or against that person or not,” said Brady.

Later, Brady explained he’s not currently in the endorsement business, and the Governor has not asked him for an endorsement.
Brady knows of no one circulating petitions to mount a primary challenge against Rauner. He says it’s becoming late in the game, and a divided party might hurt the GOP’s chances to win the general election.
