BLOOMINGTON – Tuesday is election day in Illinois with various municipal races on the ballot.
Both Twin Cities mayors are seeking re-election. Tari Renner in Bloomington faces a challenge from alderman Kevin Lower. Chris Koos is seeking a fourth term as mayor of Normal as he is challenged by Bloomington High School teacher Marc Tiritilli.
Bloomington has city council races in four wards, while Normal has four candidates for three at-large seats on the town council.
There are also open races for seats on the Unit 5 and District 87 school boards, Heartland Community College Board of Trustees. Normal Township Supervisor, Township Clerk and township trustees will also be chosen..
The polls opened at 6 a.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m.
