SPRINGFIELD – March weather in Illinois includes plenty of rain and snow.
State Climatologist Jim Angel said the state enjoyed some much needed rain last month.
“We ended up with 3.6 inches of precipitation that’s about seven-tenths of an inch above average,” Angel said.
He noted the wettest area of the state was along a line from Quincy to Chicago, average between 3 and 6 inches of precipitation. The rest of Illinois saw between 1 and 3 inches.
Snow also fell last month with the Chicago area and northern Illinois receiving the most.
The average statewide temperature for March came in at 42.3 degrees, which is one degree above normal.
