BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington fire officials are investigating the case of a fire that displaced three residents and caused close to $100,000 in damages.
Fire department spokesman Stuart Blade said one person was home at the time of the fire that broke out at 12:45 a.m. Sunday at 603 W. Seminary. Fire crews reported smoke on the front and back of the multi-family home. The fire was under control in about 90 minutes.
The fire damage was mostly confined to the upstairs apartment with smoke and water damage to the lower apartments.
The Red Cross is providing housing assistance. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with a minor injury.
One cat was taken to the emergency vet for smoke inhalation.
The fire department is also looking into the cause of a fire that displaced 10 college students early Saturday. No one was injured in that blaze to at 302 E. Walnut St. in the Franklin Park neighborhood.
