Adjutant General looks to keep ILNG at the cutting edge of technology

SPRINGFIELD – Maj. Gen. Richard J. Hayes Jr., the Adjutant General of the Illinois National Guard and Brig. Gen. Michael Zerbonia, the Assistant Adjutant General-Army, visited UI Labs in Chicago Wednesday to talk with their leaders about what they can do to help the ILNG stay at the forefront of technology and cyber protection.

The research lab’s mission is to accelerate the deployment of emerging technologies through collaboration of world-class organizations.

During the visit, Hayes toured the UI Labs facility where inventions and capabilities were showcased.

Normal native awarded Army Achievement Medal

SPRINGFIELD – 1st Lt. David McKee, of Normal the maintenance and munitions material officer for the Joint Force Headquarters in Springfield was awarded the Army Achievement Medal during a ceremony Oct. 15 at the Illinois Military Academy on Camp Lincoln in Springfield, Illinois.

He was joined by friends and colleagues and pinned by Brig. Gen. Michael Zerbonia, the Assistant Adjutant General for the Illinois Army National Guard.

Mahomet native promoted to major

MAHOMET – Jennifer Soderlind, of Mahomet, the fiscal accounting branch chief with Joint Force Headquarters was promoted to the rank of major during a ceremony Oct. 15 at the Illinois Military Academy Camp Lincoln in Springfield.

She was joined by her family, friends and colleagues and pinned by her 4-year-old son Knox at the ceremony.
