NORMAL – A group of local business leaders is hosting its first coat collection.
Travis Huber with the McLean County Chamber of Commerce’s Next Professionals explains told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin who’s involved and what they do.
“Age is 23 to 40,” Huber said. “We offer a lot of opportunities for our members for personal and professional development.”
Next Professionals is hosting a coat drive throughout October for its ‘Scare Because We Care’ campaign to benefit the Salvation Army of McLean County. Coats and other winter accessories can be dropped off at the Heartland Community College Workforce Development Center, the DoubleTree by Hilton, Escape Bloomington and the Normal Theater, which is hosting a red carpet event at 6 p.m. Friday ahead of a playing of Monsters Inc. at 7.
The group’s Justin Boyd said people can donate scarves, gloves and anything to keep people warm.
“Let’s make a difference in McLean County,” the group’s Justin Boyd said.
Organizers say the red carpet event will be family friendly and families are encouraged to wear costumes.
