BLOOMINGTON – It’s hoped more than 100 purses can lead to a new home for a family in need.
The women’s group of the United Way is putting on their first ever Power of the Purse event Thursday night at the Bloomington Double Tree. Pat Grosso said a wide variety of purses will be sold using a mobile app.
Habitat for Humanity – Women Build of McLean County will benefit from the event.
“They are purchasing these items very much like Ebay on their smart phones,” said Grosso. “It’s an auction via an application called Bidtel. They can view all of the purses on Bidtel on an application on their phones. They can already start making bids on the purses.”
The fundraiser starts at 5:30. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
