NORMAL – The Normal Town Council will vote Monday night on approving contracts for two water main replacement projects.
One contract, worth about $1.45 million, is for the second phase of work in Greenbriar subdivision. Water main replacement in that subdivision last year took several months. Deputy City Manager Pamela Reece said phase two includes much of the same work.
“Unfortunately, there will be some detours and traffic modification while this project is underway,” said Reece. “It is an inconvenience for the residents there. We will try to minimize the inconvenience as much as possible.”
The town is also planning water main replacements on University Street from College Avenue to Willow Street. Reece said that work is expected to cost roughly $311,000.
