BLOOMINGTON – The medical marijuana lobby in Illinois is not happy with the Governor’s administration after it rejected eight recommendations from the Medical Cannabis Advisory Board.
Tim McGraw, director of the Medical Cannabis Alliance of Illinois said Gov. Rauner should not be scared to expand the program.
“What’s there to be scared of? This is only helping people, people that really need it, especially veterans” McGraw said. “We have veterans with PTSD that are already treating with cannabis, but they’re buying it from the black market. The governor, with one stroke of a pen, could’ve made this available to veterans, but instead he’s turning veterans into criminals.”
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder was one of the eight recommendations the Illinois Department of Public Health rejected Friday. It rejected 12 other recommendations last year.
Only 4,000 patients can buy the drug at licensed dispensaries in Illinois.
