BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington firefighters and policemen are once again facing off in a hockey match to raise money for Special Olympics.
Guns & Hoses brought in $10,000 in 2015.
“We’re trying to add to that this year. I’m trying something a little different where we have items for raffle at our game to try to raise more money,” Bloomington Police Officer Steve Brown said.
2016 will be the 9th year for the event, which takes place at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Feb. 13.
“Todd Kyle was, kind of, the one that spear headed it when it first started,” said Brown. “He came up with the idea right after we got the Coliseum, and there was a hockey team here locally, and the interest was growing. He got together with the fire department and said it sounded like a fun idea.”
Tickets for Guns & Hoses are $10. They’re available at the Coliseum box office at 101 S. Madison St. in Bloomington, or at ticketmaster.com.
