GENEVA – When bacon and other red and processed meats came under scrutiny from the World Health Organization this month one state lawmaker wasn’t going to take it.
Republican Representative Steve Anderson from Geneva started the Bacon Caucus. The group quickly grew bipartisan and resulted in a resolution on the house floor to support bacon and pork production in Illinois. To honor those lawmakers the Illinois Pork Producers passed out 150 BLT’s at noon time.
Past President of the IPPA and a hog farmer from Livingston County Mike Haag says that it’s nice to be at the state house and let bacon bring people together.
