NORMAL – If you can’t get enough of the Cardinals vs. Cubs rivalry, the Normal CornBelters are stepping to the plate to offer their own version.
The Frontier League team has scheduled a St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs legends game featuring Chicago Cubs legends Fergie Jenkins and Bill Buckner and former St. Louis Cardinals and Cubs closer Lee Smith on Saturday, July 16, 2016. Other legends are expected to be announced shortly.
“We are excited to host such a wonderful event where the fans will have the opportunity to meet some of their favorite Cardinals and Cubs players from the recent and distant past,” said CornBelters President and General Manager Steve Malliet. “It will be an exciting weekend having these legends come to town.”
The game will start at 6:35 p.m. with box seat tickets for $15 and $10 for reserved bleachers with backs tickets.
All tickets for the general public will go on sale starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12th. Tickets can be purchased online at www.normalbaseball.com, by calling (309) 454-2255 (BALL) or stopping by The Mid-Illini Credit Union Box Office at The Corn Crib during normal business hours.
The first 1,000 fans that purchase tickets for the game will get access to a special autograph session with the legends starting at 5 p.m. on the 16th.
“I encourage all fans to get their tickets as soon as possible. You really want to be one of the first 1000 before it’s too late,” said Malliet. “Get them early to make sure to get some autographs from some great Cubs and Cardinals legends.”
