Voters in the 18th Congressional District are less than enthused over the upcoming special election.
Polls open Thursday morning. McLean County Clerk Kathy Michael says early voting has been lackluster.
“Early voters and that includes mail in votes for the primary was 388 and right now we are at 300,” said Michael.
That was the count as of noon Wednesday. The race pits Democrat Rob Mellon against Republican Darin Lahood.
Michael said many of the people that she knows as regular voters have not turned out to cast an early ballot.
The special election is being held to replace Republican Aaron Schock who left his seat as the feds investigate his finances.
