WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis said he expects a legislative rebuke of the Iran nuclear deal won’t have enough support to override a veto.
Davis told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin it’s significant that America’s Middle East allies, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia all oppose the deal.

“Countries like that that are very concerned about Iran and they are going to be able to take hundreds of millions of dollars and continue to funding terrorism throughout this globe and this has to be stopped,” Davis said. “Unfortunately, there aren’t enough of my colleagues with the political courage to do it.”
Senate Democrats said on Tuesday they now have enough votes to block a Republican attempt to undermine the nuclear deal.
Government shutdown
Davis said he expects Congress will use continuing resolutions to keep the government running after Sept. 30, which he said takes the appropriations process out of the hands of lawmakers.
“We can then work together to reprioritize how we spend money in Washington but if we see all of thse end-of-the-fiscal-year spending deals, we don’t even get a seat at the table and that’s frustrating,” Davis said.
Davis said funding for Planned Parenthood will likely be one of the sticking points, citing the release of what he called the ‘abhorent’ videos which purport to show Planned Parenthood officials discussing the illegal harvesting and selling of fetal tissue.
