WASHINGTON, D.C. – One of the Senate's top ranking Democrats thinks Republican calls for ground forces against ISIS are premature and won't work.
"To plunge them into the chaos and carnage of Syria at this point would be a serious, in my view," Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin said on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday morning. "Let's work to build and support this coalition of indigenous efforts in the region to bring stability."
Durbin said the President's plan to form a coalition in the region that the U.S. can support is the best way to go. The Illinois Democrat also took issue with Republicans calling for boots on the ground in the Middle East in the name of fighting terrorism while holding up funding for the Department of Homeland Security.
