WASHINGTON – Those who served our country are being recognized by an empty chair at the U.S. Capitol building in Washington.
13th District Congressman Rodney Davis said it’s in honor of military personnel held captive by the enemy and those who never returned.
Davis said having a commemorative chair in the capitol will remind all members of the commitments made to those who fought so hard and also ensure that we hold the VA accountable for their actions too.
“I urge my colleagues to support HR670 so that families of POW/MIA service members know also that the United States of America will never forget the sacrifices their loved ones made who served this country with such valor and honor,” said Davis.
Commemorative POW/MIA chairs were recently purchased with privately raised funds, and they will remain perpetually unoccupied as a solemn reminder of 91,000 American POW/MIAs.
