NORMAL – Unit 5 plans to have students return to in-person learning in a hybrid format later next month.
“Our goal is to have students return to in-person learning, as long as local metrics allow, while keeping students and staff safe and healthy,” said Superintendent Kristen Weikle in a message to families Thursday.
Unit 5 students would return to school in a hybrid format over the course of two weeks.
- Week of October 19th-23rd: PreK, K-2, 6th, and 9th grades
- Week of October 26th-30th: 3-5, 7-8, and 10-12 grades
The hybrid format would have students go to school two days a week, with three days of remote learning.
Families will have the option to keep their children on full remote or to have them return to school in a hybrid manner, according to Weikle. The full plan from Unit 5 can be found here.
Meanwhile, District 87 released its plan for younger students to return to the classroom late next month. That plan can be found here.
