NORMAL – Illinois State University and Bradley University students are competing in a friendly two-day blood drive competition.

Dubbed “The Battle of I-74,” the American Red Cross is set up on both campuses to receive blood from donors.

So far, ISU has exceeded its goal of 30 signups with more than 40 people donating blood.

Jayce Eustice with American Red Cross said a friendly competition brings in more donors.

“It’s a friendly competition between these two schools. But at the end of the day, the winner is really the people that will be receiving these lifesaving donations,” she said.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
