NORMAL–  In looking to fill seats on the Amtrak Board of Directors, President Trump has announced three nomination intentions and Mayor of Normal Chris Koos is on the list.

In a statement from the White House, President Trump announced his intentions Monday and the Mayor has some major support.

Senator Tami Duckworth said, “As the ranking member of the subcommittee with jurisdiction over Amtrak, I applaud the decision to nominate Mayor Koos to join the Amtrak Board of Directors.

Senator Dick Durbin also offered a recommendation saying Koos will be an important voice for Illinois and the Midwest in support of growing and protecting Amtrak’s national network, and I look forward to supporting his nomination.

In addition to being the Mayor since 2003, Koos serves on the advisory board of transportation for America.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
