BLOOMINGTON – A new report ranks Bloomington-Normal as the most educated community in the state and one of the most educated in the country.
The study by 24/7 Wall Street ranks cities in three areas; percentage of residents with a college degree, the number of post-secondary schools and median household income. The Twin City’s rate of 44 percent with a bachelors degree and 95 percent with a high school diploma ranked among the highest in the U.S., while the community’s median household income approached $64,000.
The study notes that nearly a quarter of the Bloomington-Normal workforce is employed in the insurance and finance sectors, which is about five times the national average.
