LINCOLN – The National Weather Service has extended its Winter Weather Advisory for McLean County until noon Friday, at which time a Wind Chill Advisory will take effect until noon Saturday.
The Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect in DeWitt, Piatt, Champaign, Tazewell and Woodford counties.
The weather service says blowing and drifting snow in the overnight and early morning hours could create an icy coating of snow on the roads, though any additional accumulations would be light.
Visibilities could be reduced to a quarter-mile at times with possible white-out conditions during the strongest wind gusts.
The weather service says wind chills will fall to 15-to-20 below zero with the coldest wind chills over deeper snow packs from Interstate 74 north.
