NORMAL – An accused child molester has posted a high bond and has been released from the McLean County jail.

Normal police arrested Benjamin Carney, 23, of El Paso on Friday for allegedly molesting a girl younger than 13 between June of 2017 and January of last year.

Prosecutors charged Carney with 12 counts of predatory sexual assault of a child and recommended Carney be held on a $75,035 cash bond.

Associate Judge Scott Kording ordered Carney held on a $45,035 cash bond.  Carney came up with the money Monday.

Conditions of his bond include that he has no contact with anyone under the age of 18.
