Rep. Davis: Trump healthcare order will lower premiums

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis said President Donald Trump’s plans to issue an executive order on health care this week should save consumers from rising health care premiums.

“This should excite anyone who is getting their insurance on the small business or the individual exchanges because it allows groups to band together,” Davis said. “Think about it, if you are a member of the Chamber of Commerce, why can’t the Chamber of Commerce be able to offer health insurance if they want to all of their members?”

The president is expected to issue the order to loosen some health insurance regulations after failing to get Congress to approve an Obamacare overhaul. It would also allow coverage to be sold across state lines.

“This was like phase three of the program that we talked about when we were trying to fix the Affordable Care Act just a few short months ago,” Davis said.
