PONTIAC– Pontiac Police were engaged in a standoff for nearly two and a half hours Friday morning.
According to a Pontiac police press release, just before 10:45 am Pontiac Police responded to an apartment in the 400 block of W. North where eyewitnesses had seen a man pointing a gun out of his window towards a woman outside.
The man later identified as 33-year-old Justin Doan was also keeping a woman in his apartment against her will. Pontiac and Livingston Police departments later isolated the area. Two additional residents left the building while police spoke with Doan by phone.
Doan refused to exit the building, or to let his female captive go, and began barricading his position in the apartment. Just after 1pm Doan and the female occupant exited the building and surrendered to police.
Doan was arrested for Posession of a Stun Gun by a Felon, Aggravated Assault, and Violation of Conditional Discharge. He is being held in the Livingston County Jail.
