The McLean County Coroner said it was an elderly Indiana woman killed in a hit and run crash in southeast Bloomington that police believe was caused by a drunk driver.
Coroner Kathy Davis identified the victim as 79-year old Phyllis Graver of Carmel, Indiana.
Authorities said Graver was a passenger in a sport utility vehicle that rolled over after colliding with a red minivan at Morrissey Drive and Chrisman Lane late Wednesday morning.
The driver with Graver in the SUV was seriously injured and treated at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center. His identity and condition are not being released.
The coroner said a preliminary autopsy indicated Graver died from cervical spine injuries.
Police said they’ve arrested 54-year-old Darin Scott of Bloomington on preliminary charges of driving under the influence or alcohol and fleeing the crash scene.
Police are still seeking the public’s help in the investigation.
On Thursday, Bloomington Police arrested Jakeb C.S. Collins, 22, of Bloomington for allegedly leaving the scene of the accident after additional information was received by the public. McLean County prosecutors are expected to file formal charges before Collins appears for a Friday afternoon bond hearing.
Authorities have released photos of Scott’s minivan, which can be seen on our website, WJBC.com. Police want to hear from people who may have seen the minivan in southeast Bloomington, or along Route 150 and Towanda-Barnes Road, on Wednesday between 9 and 11:30 a.m.
Anyone with information is asked to call Blomington Police at 309-434-2579 or McLean County Crime Stoppers at 309-828-1111.
