Ameren announces delivery system upgrades

BLOOMINGTON – Ameren has announced it is upgrading more than 60,000 electric and natural gas meters for residential customers in and around Bloomington-Normal as well as Livingston, McLean Tazewell and Woodford counties.

The uility has the so-called smart technology will help customers manage energy usage and save.

“This advanced technology will provide our customers with access to more choices for pricing options and energy efficiency tools to help them manage their energy usage and better control their costs,” said Gussie Reed, Division Director for Ameren Illinois serving McLean County. “It will also enable us to more quickly detect system disruptions, prevent outages, and restore service.”

Customers in the following 34 communities will benefit from these enhancements:
– Livingston County – Flanagan, Graymont, Pontiac
– McLean County – Arrowsmith, Bloomington, Carlock, Chenoa, Colfax, Cooksville, Danvers Downs, Ellsworth, Gridley, Heyworth, Hudson, Le Roy, Lexington, McLean, Merna, Normal, Shirley, Stanford, Towanda
– Tazewell County – Deer Creek, Mackinaw, Minier
– Woodford County – Congerville, El Paso, Eureka, Goodfield, Kappa, Panola, Roanoke, Secor

Ameren Illinois will contact customers in advance of making the meter upgrades.
