BLOOMINGTON – Some kids may not be ready to go back to school, but they now have the supplies they need to succeed.
The Back 2 School Alliance hosted its annual back-pack giveaway on Tuesday at Grossinger Motors Arena.
Low-income families in District 87 and Unit 5 collected back-packs full of supplies, groceries, and played games with friends.
“It’s an opportunity for us as administrators and school personnel to see some of our families coming back again,” said Chris McGraw, Evans Jr. High School Principal. “Just meeting them with a smile; Kind of saying, hey, you know, you’re part of our family 9 months of the year. We’re super excited to have you back.”
McGraw said the kids now have what they need to have a stress-free school year.
