Multiple injuries in I-55 SUV wreck near Funks Grove

FUNKS GROVE – Seven people were hurt when the sport utility vehicle they were in flipped in the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 and wound up in the median near the Funks Grove rest stop.

The accident, reported about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, backed up traffic on the interstate, southwest of Bloomington, during a peak travel time.

The victims were taken to local hospitals, but it’s believed their injuries were not life threatening.

Illinois State Police are investigating, but they have not provided details.
