BLOOMINGTON – Illinois’ Attorney General said Bloomington’s City Council violated the state’s Open Meetings Act.
It stems from a February meeting, where the council met in closed session to discuss ending the city’s Metro Zone agreement with Normal. McLean County State’s Attorney Jason Chambers brought the case to the AG’s attention after multiple people reached out to him with concerns. Chambers said he’s not sure what will come next in this investigation.
“I want to make sure people have notice and are aware this is what you should be doing,” Chambers said.”So, that’s what the purpose of it was. So that we can all have clarification going forward about what’s okay and what’s not okay in executive session,” he said.
Mayor Tari Renner declined to comment on the case.
