ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Cardinals say St. Louis police are investigating how a fan was injured by a stray bullet inside Busch Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Cardinals say the female fan was treated for an abrasion and bruise at the stadium’s first aid station. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the woman felt pain in her arm, and found a bullet slug near her seat on the first base side.
The team says the bullet apparently came from outside the stadium. The Post-Dispatch reports police received a call of shots fired less than a mile from the stadium at about the same time, and police sources suspected someone was shooting into the air.
The Cardinals issued a statement saying, “There is nothing more important than the safety of our fans, and the Cardinals are grateful that no one was seriously injured. We will be sharing more information with the media as further details emerge.”
