PEORIA – For the first time in more than two years, quarterly sales and revenue are up at Caterpillar.
The heavy equipment maker also revised upward its financial outlook, according to our news partner, WMBD TV.
First quarter sales are up four percent, but they remain near historically low levels, according to Caterpillar’s investor relations director, Amy Campbell. Sales in China, a pick-up in the mining industry, and oil prices all factor into Caterpillar’s brighter outlook.
Quarterly results released Tuesday come as the company prepares to move its global headquarters from Peoria to the Chicago suburb of Deerfield, but Campbell notes the Peoria area maintains a large employee base.
