BLOOMINGTON – McLean County prosecutors have charged a Wisconsin man with home invasion and criminal trespass to a residence after a reported break in last week.

Prosecutors said DeMarques Greene, 30, entered a residence on April 15 in the 500 block of Valley View Circle through an unlocked patio door and began fighting with a man identified as the ex-husband of the homeowner. The man grabbed a knife and stabbed at Greene, who fled the scene.

Officers found the man with a stab wound in his hand. He was transported to a nearby hospital for a non-life threatening injury.

Officers were called to the nearby Wal-Mart in the 2200 block of West Market Street where Greene was found slumped over in his vehicle with multiple stab wounds. Greene’s wounds were treated at a local hospital.

Greene was arrested Saturday by Bloomington police. His arraignment is scheduled for May 4.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
